I live in the epicentre of their visit today.

It's a really, really good day to commit crime elsewhere in the Blue Mountains as I'm fairly sure every single police officer, all dolled up in formal uniform, is at the top of our road.

It was all anyone could talk about at Coles this morning, bless 'em.

You don't have to hate the royal family or yellow dresses to want a republic :)

To specifically grumble about this royal visit in the context of a republic one minute, but then look for fashion tips from them the next seems to be messed in the head.

Every royal visit naturally brings republic into focus...but others on the same sofa like celebrity...and producers like all of it...

Twenty bloody minutes on the treadmill at the gym with wall to wall TVs and most of them showing nothing a plane taxi the runway, followed by riveting shots of the plane door.....for a further hour or so well it felt like it.

Given my other viewing options were a MTV video of miley cirrus doing a female anatomy lesson I was forced to watch W&K allegedly being stunned to death by a royal reception unlike any other of the other 1000 W has done before.

Cute kid though, and I swear as he passed tony abbott he did a little spit up:thumbup:

If you will frequent a gym, then you've only yourself to blame really:lol:

Well at least Princess Mary had a successful career before becoming a royal: she worked in advertising in Edinburgh and Sydney, taught English in Paris and worked for Microsoft after moving to Denmark in 2002.

Kate on the other hand has no real work experience looking after herself as a grown adult.

Does that really matter? Just because she "maybe" did not get the best grades at Uni or not be so confident in speaking in public make her not a very good Duchess?
I think its more to do with the way she deals with the public! Something which is not acquired through being very academic but actually being a nice person, grades & qualifications do not make people better than others!!

Define bright Badge? If you mean academically, she certainly isn't brain surgeon material but she's far from thick. In fact if we are speaking about social and emotional intelligence then I'd say she's extremely clever.

Remember, this is a woman who from a very early age knew exactly what she wanted, which was to be married to the future king. She did everything within her power to make sure that happened. This woman knows what she wants and how to get it. She's playing the game and doing a very good job of it. I like her.

I don't get all the hate for the Royals ( minus Charles, he's a complete prick ) I think they do a great job of promoting Britain and without them our/my country would be pretty much worthless.

I have no idea - it was posited that Mary has more rounding. As Commonwealth alluded to. Charles has worked harder than other Royals and has always had the courage of his convictions. He gets picked on whilst 'Princess Diana' was practically sainted.

Is that Captain Birdseye in the background?

I have no doubt that he's worked hard, but he hasn't had much choice in the matter, he's next in line to the throne and he's had to prove his worth, If not to the country then certainly to his mother.

The problem I have with him is he seems weak in character, easily upset, I would even go as far as to say he has spoilt spoilt brat syndrome.
The man doesn't have a back bone, therefore in my eyes he's not fit to be King, but that's just my personally opinion. On top of that I don't agree with his political beliefs or some of what he has planned for Britain when he's King.

I do agree with you about Diana, the country worshipped her but let's give her credit where it's due, it must have been hell being married to that bell end, no wonder she lost the plot.

At least something good came out of the shambles they called a marriage, two fine young men who I like very much and they're a credit to the Royal family.

Hell! I feel like a giving you a rendition of God Save The Queen after that little speech!

Only kidding. ;)

I think Charles is the result of circumstance, his generation, relative importance yet lack of adult responsibilities. He did not enjoy the benefits his sons got. Last of his generation, so not really one of the people. Not everyone can be popular. But his own interests he gets into.

As an Australian, with respect, I disagree. I have no personal stake in whether the UK keeps the royals in charge or not but I don't think the UK would be pretty much worthless without them. I can't see that at all, even if you were exaggerating to better make your point.

Re: OMG they are here!!!!!!

The only benefit I can see of a royal family is, if they are run as a Business to benefit the economy of the Country.

The current UK royal family has too many hangers on, the list of royals with benefits is far too big. The ugly princesses for eg, their mother fergie, what is the point of the taxpayer having to fork out for them.

I am not sure if W&K's Kate is stupid. She seems to have landed herself a pretty cushy lifestyle:frown: probably more society planning than brains.

Princess Mary, the Scottish/Tasmanian lass doesnt seem that aussie now. First thing that happened, she very quickly acquired a very strong Danish accent, it had to be voice training, no way would you go from 'strain, to eloquent Danish accent in a year:blink: Very elegant dresser, classy european stylilng, but who wouldnt be dripping that amount of money.

Kates parade of high street fashion is just a PR game, getting WaKKy to appeal to the general population.
