Looks like mum is working a way to protect her kids from British societal sewage and the system is trying to deliver solutions however clumsily.
Frankly, I know next to nothing about such problems and to what extent they occur in Australia, perhaps because it doesn't happen and perhaps because I am oblivious to it.

Just had a good look via Google News, which spiders pretty much every news outlet on the planet, and can find no examples. Could still go on of course, but I can find no Australian equivalent.

To be honest I dont give a shite about what country this happens in, and you cant blame the woman for taking what is offered.
But - I do find it unbelievable that someone can have several children that they cannot afford to keep and pay for themselves.
They are on benefits, should there be a limit to how many kids the tax payer has to support?

Not that long ago, one of the 2 nightly, ahem, 'current affairs' shows (Daily Mail equivalents if you like) on Aussie TV ran a story of a couple who were incapable of not having a child every time they had sex. They were on I think 10, with another one the way and were waiting for the state to find them another house - they were in receipt of c. $250k in benefits per year. Apparently.

These things do happen in Australia. The tabloid press in the UK does a brilliant job of making anything that happens there look as unjust and random as possible.
People listen to the tabloids in the UK. In Australia, I think people take slightly less notice of the tabloid press AND there is much less sensationalism surrounding such a story here. People don't ''gossip'' about it in Australia over their garden fences whilst hanging out the laundry in the same way that people seem to in that curious, 1950's way that the British have.
