lawns are never easy to dispose of them in..... you inevitably either get a hump or a settling..... now rose beds, that is a different matter.... much more appropriate

My MIL is great. My husband's MIL is a negative, vindictive cow but she's 12,000 miles away so do I care? Do I ...... well I do actually but not quite as much as I used to.

I did put the phone down on her recently when she rang to say she had seen the photos of our house and wondered when we would extend the kitchen because it seems to be as small and cramped as it was in the previous pictures :curse:

No more photo's for her! Speaking of which, my MIL insists on taking my photo even when I have expressed a deep dislike for it and has taken to doing it when I'm distracted so I can't stop her. Then she sends them to my SIL to show her how much weight I've put on.And the apple didn't fall far from the tree where she's concerned either!!:curse:

Guys guys guys, think like Aussies, it's christamas, Barbeque the old bag and serve her to the rellies, you'll save a fortune on steak, do everyone a favour and bring a whole new meaning to the phrase "BITE ME"

:rofl: my MIL called us if we would like to come over for Xmas dinner.
But....she also said that if we wouldn't she would go over to family of her for Xmas (with my FIL). So we said, we won't hold you back...please go and have fun  . So we are having a nice Xmas with the 3 of us, just chilling, relaxing, having some nice food and that's it.

PS My MIL is a nice lady, don't worry, a bit headstrong...but so am I ;);)

Love this thread!! I don't feel so alone!

Can't just blame my MIL! Both of my parents in law told my hubby he would have to choose between me or them!! He's happily cut out of the will and living on the other side of the world! They didn't even come to say goodbye and of course I dragged him here kicking and screaming!

Can't understand why but the kids do call me the Wicked Witch of West and if I make them tell me they love me they say 'We love you Miss Hanigan!"

Snap!

My BIL said that the only thing that would make his mother happy would be for my husband to leave me and our kids. He chose to leave with me and our kids. I still feel bad about it, but have to remember that they brought it on themselves. I didn't ask him to choose, they did.

I still feel bad about it though! (But not at Christmas, birthdays, bank holidays, school holidays......)

We have enough towels to keep us going till doomsday, falling out of the ucpboard so you have to hold them in while you close the door........so the Bloke told the MIL he thought a good present for me would be some more towels  and they are a kind of crocket stuff so they don't dry anything anyway  I shall decorate her room with them next year perhaps........

Just had the video on with the MIL, she was pickled and obnoxious and if the kids didnt give the exact right reaction to the presents its all a big bother.

Got the snide comments in the background (she doesnt realise we can still here her), slagging off OZ (especially as its not sunny today) and bemoaning the kids not knowing who she is (they do!).

What a hoot that is, at least with the webcam we can switch it off!

Glad to see we not the only ones who get stick!!

Why do we put up with them?

My MIL has told me the following;
1/ you are a plonker!
2/ i have seen better photos than your wedding photos, i would have thrown half of them out
3/ your parents do not have a clue
4/ your cousins are complete twats
5/ i would rather drive an hgv than your mums car
i could go on and on but ....fear of the OH reading this and also feel as if i am being bitchy..........kind of know i am not just trying to get rid of pent up frustration...

That might just be the reason why there are so many evil mother in laws in this world. My theory is that those who have had bad experience with their MILs also turn into horrible MILs when their children get married. Great way for a revenge!:D

Luckily for me and JTL, our mothers both had decent MILs. :)

Well guys how did it go. My MIL behaved brilliantly over xmas and the new year, then.........

SIL called to say she'd ranted at her for 4 hours because we're emigrating.
Neighbour got caught on high street for 40 mins while she ranted at them.
Best friend got a 30 min rant via phone.

Well at least she left us alone;)
