Default The night before I fly?

Hello,

wanted your words of wisdom before I fly to Perth. We dont live in the UK at the moment.

Well we are flying from Prague to North East first (couldnt get direct from Prague to Oz)

Hubby is at work the day before we fly to UK so cant go any sooner.

Arrive in Newcastle at about 6.30pm. We will have four kids in tow from 2 yrs to 15!

Now next morning we have to fly out of North East airport at 7.00am to Heathrow to catch Singapore airlines flight.

Here is my dilema. My MIL has offered to book us hotel near the airport for the night as flight is at 7.00am. This sounds good.

All our family live in this town, and my own sister offered for us to stay at her house for the night. But this is not close to airport. Well hubby is unsure as she like to play the party host and he thinks she will have us up all night (think she is planning BQ with relatives)

He reckons the kids will be exhausted before they have even started the flights to Oz. Due to flying into the North East and getting in at 6.30 then flying out the next morning at 7am.

Im torn, we saw both sets of parents in the last 4 weeks. Wanted to come over and say bye. But havent seen my sisters and other rels in months.

But worried it will all be too much for the kids. As they only finished school the day before too.

Any input as we fly out in 2 weeks and need to make a decision and book hotel.

Hubby says hotel and tell everyone we will be too tired to stop.(Think he would prefer to rest in hotel) He thinks we wont get much sleep at my sisters. But I feel guilty as hell.

Damn straight!!! Nothing worse than kids that are so awake they get bored and irritable on a long flight!!!!
Tire them out, put up with a bit of tetchyness from them before the flight and then enjoy them sleeping for 10 hrs on the plane!!!

I agree, loads of time for sleep on the plane, might be the last time you see the relatives for a while....

That's what I was going to say as well.

Book yourself into the hotel. Get relatives to come to the hotel for an early and brief dinner. Then get some sleep. A long-haul flight when you're knackered from lack of sleep woth over-tired kids - SHUDDER.

No need to feel guilty and if you've got nice and kind relatives, they will understand.

Gina
