But it didn't start off any renewed conflict did it? It was all resolved peacefully, because nobody wanted to be seen as the bad guy. That's got to be a good thing.

The problem is that British Forces all around the world will now be at greater risk as they will be seen as weak and afraid to defend themselves. Bullies like Iran are always looking for a weak spot to pick on. The British Government handed it to them on a plate.

I don't think there is anything that anyone could possibly do that would magically sort out a peaceful democracy in the middle east. Or even a peaceful autocracy, come to think of it.
It's not as if there have been a whole spate of kidnappings is it?
