We really didn't have any help from anyone when we arrived in Adelaide. We got really lucky and were offered on arrival accomodation by the SA Gov't. We made quick friends with our Aussie neighbours & my co-workers. I did love going to the coffee mornings at Starbucks with Wendy and the girls. Not much better than a big mug of coffee while sitting in Rundle Mall watching the people go by.

When we moved over to Perth I got lots of help and support from Northernbird. We have lots in common and I think she's just a really nice woman. I met Sam & her family back in August or September and we became quick friends. Whenever I'm having a bad day or had a fight with the old man I know I can count on Sam to listen while I bitch. My kids love her, too. She has a pool and x-box. Our next door neighbours are a lovely couple who are here on a retirement visa. They've helped us probably more than anyone could. They watch our kids if we want to go out, even offering to take them for a weekend if my husband and I want to go away. They've become like surrogate grandparents to my children.

I try to help out newcomers when I can. I remember all too well getting off the plane and feeling so out of our depth. If there's even one person who can make you feel welcome then it makes it so much less scary.

Thanks D

We love you lot too!

Ok then without a doubt Curly and Shiels were brilliant help when we arrived. Curly drove me around for 6 weeks whilst I waited on my car, fed us, lent us stuff, gave us stuff, absolute stars. Shiels is golden, lots of info given and always there if you need her :)

I've settled in really quickly and it's definitely due to that help I'd have been completely lost otherwise.

My lovely friends they are, I'm a lucky girl  (edit: and they are Midlanders too, salt of the earth ;) )

Anytime Kath, anytime. BTW your lovely too  C x

For me, my help came from Moneypen20 and still does today, thanks Pen  C x

First boy has been a challenge from day one. Life has not been easy but we are very lucky to have him. He has bad reflux and other gastro issues and he may well be on the autistic spectrum. On the plus side he is highly intelligent if not an emotional basket case. He speaks really well and has a mad sense of humour.

The Mrs is in need of a break and I am not sure how to give it to her as family support is non existent.

At least I now earn enough money to survive through a new job although that may get made redundant due to a takeover in June.

We will see what challenges his baby brother brings in June. I think we are mad.

How is the Goldie treating you guys?
