Its quite simple, the aussies get told what to pay and they pay it without so much a a quibble. The tall poppy syndrome and their obsession not to be seen as "whingers" leaves them prime candidates for having their pants pulled down.

Perhaps this might be why Qantas pulled out of the Europe via Asia route. Everyone is now booking 2 leg flights or using IP blockers

What's the tax free threshold for overseas internet purchases in the UK? I can imagine that a lot of consumer electronics, computer parts etc are bought on the internet by poms, seeing as the UK is more expensive than the US, Asia, Australia for these kind of things.
