hi back again

had a busy old day today
after reading my students booklet i drove down to tweed heads to do my "blue card" exam its health n safty course and you need it to gain access to a construction site in queensland ( nsw have green cards same type of thing different colour )
i had to be there for 2pm and i nearly didnt make it as i hadnt realised that as tweed heads is just in nsw that they are an hour ahead of us in queensland
doh
shot down the pacific highway like a determined pom :D

anyway passed that
to be honest yopu would have to be incredibly thick not to

got back and the postie had just been
we now have our medicare cards
and i have an elecrtical work training permit
( really quick i only applied for it on the 31st oct )
so its off to the tafe ( college ) again tommorrow to see what courses are available to comply with the requirements of the temp permit

thats it for now i`m off to meet some people that only arrived yesterday

still trying to sort out tafe courses to comply with the temp electrical licence that I’ve been issued, along with the temp licence came a sheet listing all the approved rto`s ( yep more bladdy abbreviations ) it means recognised training organisations so i started with the one nearest to us, gave up trying to explain over the phone what i was after so i jumped into the car and went round to the nearest tafe listed on the sheet

gold coast tafe - southport
arrr came the answer from enrolments,
we don’t do that course
well who does ??
try ashmore they do electrical courses
back to the car and drive over to ashmore
went to enrolments
i don’t think we do that course
go down to the electrical block and ask one of the tutors
arrr said the tutor we don’t do that course
well who does ??
you need to speak to Mr Josephs at Yeronga Tafe ( Brisbane )
( it turns out the list of rto`s is nothing more than a list of all the tafes in queensland and least half off them don’t do electrical courses, daft or what )

anyway i called Mr Josephs and spoke to his personal sectary Julie
i quickly explained what i was after and she knew exactly what was needed
so she has arranged an hour and a half appointment with Mr Josephs ( at a cost of $220 ) to ascertain which course etc will be needed to egt my full licence
the appointment is for three weeks hence but as Julie said there wont be any more courses staring this side of the summer recess which means late jan early feb at the earliest,
so its a wait and see I’ve also got a job interview on monday morning
Debra my wife has been working / training at the local gym and one of the ladies there told her that her husbands mate had an electrical business and was looking for a new electrician so this lady has passed on my number and he`s called me at home, we had a chat and have arranged to meet him monday so bits crossed if you please ( at 10am monday morning ;) )

So i`ll let you know more then
