There are more (and better BMWs - and Mercs, Porsches, Audis etc) in the UK - and where I used to live a lot of people had horses.

Now what?

Are we all supposed to be impressed by the BMW and horse? Granted we're all different when it comes to what makes up happy but this is one of the most toss-pot sentences I've ever read...

I am sorry your wife didnt like the UK, its not for everyone and yes some parts are quite run down etc, however I think referring to it as a shit hole is a bit extreme. At least you wont have to waste any more money on visiting again. I am pleased you have Australia to return as well.

The U.K today, compared to what I remember a few decades back are totally unrelated. It was a shocking eye opener for me and I'm still trying to come to grips with it. We couldn't wait to come home and probably won't go back again. Biggest reality check I've ever had and I'm not young. Be very careful what your memories are because it changes rapidly and the repercussions are not good. Can I ask where in the UK you went to?As for changes, everywhere changes does'nt it?Or I suppose you are going to tell me Australia has'nt changed in decades?I've lived in Australia for 30 years and it ain't the country I moved to either back in 1970.I return to Oz quite often for family reasons, and even in short periods of time,it has changed.

The OP has left the website, so is unable to answer. Probably best if I close the thread.
