No actually I wouldn't. What if it belonged to a pensioner? What if it were a struggling single parent? What if it were you that had lost it and someone else had kept it?

This did go through my mind after i found it. It wasn't until i was unloading the trolley of food into my car that this receipt stuck in the bottom unravelled and green notes were showing.

Re: MONEY, MONEY, MONEY
Well the thing is now i still have it, not spent it.
Thats why i ask the question. At first i thought keep it, now i feel bad, so hand it in tomorrow because that person will go back to see if anything has been handed in. It's too late now. will be shut.

I'd have to take it back tomorrow, in an envelope with your name and number on it. Then just forget it, that way you won't be getting peed off incase the staff have kept it for themselves.

Hubby's just informed me its actually a crime here in oz, theft by finding or something. You have to prove you've done everything possible to find the rightful owner.

Re: MONEY, MONEY, MONEY
Hubby says you can hand it in to the police, if no one claims it after a month its yours to keep! If you hand it into the store your less likely to see it (and nor probably will the rightful owners). Just inform the store that you have found 'an item' and handed it into the police. They can forward on anyone asking for the lost dosh to the police station.

I wouldn't have taken it home in the first place - but it is good that you are going to take it back tomorrow.

Re: MONEY, MONEY, MONEY
If i'm going to get arrested at the supermarket for taking it back as someone suggested, i think i will call in at local police station down the road. Best bet i think.

they won't arrest you if you're handing it in. All the same I would hand it in to the cops rather than the supermarket.
