Missus wants out but 6 others want to stay!

Well, it's been a long while since I found a reason to post here but here goes...
Short story......
Me and the five kids absolutely love our life here.
The wife absolutely hates it here.
She would return to the UK (no friends and no family and she's Italian.....if that helps) tomorrow, even though we only have a few months until we apply for citizenship.
We all desperately want to stay.
I think it really boils down to her shitty job and lack of prospects therein and that she is still the major bread winner. My business is taking off slow but steady.
I open it to intelligent discussion......

Tell the missus as you all love it and she hates it you'll do a deal.
Deal is to get citizenship then go back. At least that way if she realises she's made a mistake, you can come back cos all doors stay open.
Or get citizenship and send her back for the $1000 cure i.e holiday
Good luck mate

good question. As long as she can take holiday wise I reckon....
I see it this way. If she wants to go back at least she will be sure after she's spent time back there. Also maybe remind her that UK is no different re job situation as she may be hankeing after the good ole days that no longer exist.
Good luck mate

Morons like you make me fuzzy in my tummy! I'm severely disabled and it's not easy! If you have nothing useful to say, keep your moronic mouth to yourself! What a plank!

going back to your situation - sonlymewalter is spot on. Your mrs waiting a little bit longer for citizenship, and then returning home, is a very good outcome for her.... and it leaves doors open for all of you in future.
She is probably going through a lot of turmoil at the moment. I'll bet that she has days when things aren't too bad, and she thinks that waiting until citizenship will be doable. Then she'll have other days that are terrible and she'll just want out.
You need to catch her on a good day, get her to agree to the deal suggested by sonlymewalter, tell her that you know this last period will be hard for her but please can she hang in there for the family.
A holiday home for her is one option...... Another option is to show her that you're committed to your part of the deal, by booking all the one way tickets home now. Lets say you're eligible for citizenship in 3months time. How long does the application take to process? Find out, add on the processing time, add on a few more months just in case, then book return flights for that date. If citizenship ceremony is earlier than expected you can bring forward the flight dates.

My wife goes back in October for three weeks to see if she can shake the homesickness off... and our Citizenship ceremony is due sometime soon as well, so pretty much the same sort of plan. What happens if she comes back and is more determined to go home is another matter.... and something we will have to work on if/when that happens.

Okay apologies, I boobed and misunderstood. Tell her indoors you'll always always be flexible about what you as a family will do in the future. Good luck.

ok I think that's the end of it now. Expatasia is a good poster and clearly misunderstood the situation and has apologised.
