The six-year-old was reported missing from her Mount Druitt home in Sydney's west on August 1 last year. The disappearance sparked a lengthy police investigation which culminated in her mother Kristi Anne Abrahams, 27, and stepfather Robert Smith, 32, being charged with her murder.
The charges followed the discovery of human remains in Shalvey, northwest of the family's home, on Friday, April 22. A post-mortem examination was carried out the following week, but the results were inconclusive.

Initial DNA tests carried out on Monday were positive.

'Interim DNA tests have been conducted on the remains, and police can reveal that a positive identification has been made.
