I am reading more coverage. The coverage relates to avenues of investigation....today they have chosen to talk about terrain following.
It is just journalism.Meanwhile the lines of investigation continue. Eventually the search will be called off after the lines of investigation are exhausted....

Rather more stories finally coming round to the idea the entire flight was controlled by uploaded waypoints in the FMC :

Which very much limits the places it could be and still give the ping returns seen. I would be surprised to see this aircraft found by the end of the week - I just hope its not Australia that finds it because you know Abbott would try to claim some credit.

Conspiracy theorists in Malaysia suggest that it was found a week ago, hijacked and crashed off the island of Langkawi. Malaysian government saving face by not releasing the find.

Either way stop acting like a bunch of *****....it's one thing not to know, make a mistake and gloss over a little one...or handle it badly: but to cover up a major find...

Have seen two more theories:
one is that it flew under (shadow) SIA aircraft on the new route and then landed in one of the "stan" countries
the other is something about some "interesting cargo" on board and something is going on in Diego Garcia and it was diverted there as US and Chinese disease specialists have been flown there.
Just gets stranger by the minute.....

On contrary, it's frantic there because you're a small operation with limited staff and resources. This is a major aviation incident with immense national and international resources available. There are protocols and and procedures that are (normally) in place. I don't think it's the same thing as a bush plane going down at all.

I think that the Malaysians have, belatedly, started to man up a bit. They were more switched on in that last news conference and have made available a lot more data and info. They realise that they need to eat some shit and be more open and truthful - and the rest of the world has responded with more help and resources

This is the best analysis I have seen so far of the sequence of events and how it could have been achieved.

I don't agree with the conclusion either. I have no idea what the captain and/or pilot were planning, and it may have been suicide, but as of now the plan appears to have failed, unless it was suicide.

Suicide seems so unlikely. No requirement for elaborate planning, just ditch the plane.
