Melissa Etheridge Anyone ?
If you know her you'll most likely like her music. If you don't shes a Canadian singer with a bit of a raspy voice.
I recently stumbled on a really nice duet with Melissa and Dolly Parton that is absolutely fantastic so I thought I'd share.
You'll know the song but dont be put off, they are great together:

Shes had many a hit in Canada from memory, a lesbian too and one song she wrote called Im the only one talked of a relationship yet youd never know she was gay at all.
Her and Joan Armatrading, great female artists imo

That was lovely, one of Dolly's best, although that song always makes me a little sad.
I never really liked the Whitney version, too warbly.
But it was my cousin and his wife's 'song', so when he sadly died in a car crash aged just 27, they played that at his funeral.

Funny what songs get played at funerals. The wife (ozzie born, raised) wants greenday "hope you had the time of your life"
While I would prefer for myself Dennis Leary "Im an arsehole"

When our baby daughter died in '93 we chose the Simply Red song 'Wonderland' to play at her funeral. It wasn't until several years later that we discovered that the song was about Mick Hucknall's bitter hatred of Margaret Thatcher. Made it seem a strange choice for a baby's funeral, but as a bit of a leftie I can see the irony.
