No, have to do it here.

You have to wait. As a 457 visa holder you are only covered for essential treatment. Most 457 holders have to take out private health at massive cost as part of their work contract.

can you advise of any companies i can get private medical care with that are ok price wise for a family of 4

Not all will cover and you will pay a lot of money for it. Here is one company, prices will be much of a muchness I think.

You need to wait and you need the visa sticker in your passport before you go to the Medicare offices.
