Default Medical questions...

Ok, I'm dumb, stupid and HATE going to see doctors....

So does anyone offer any advice on my two problems:

1 I twisted my arm pulling my luggage off a carousel about 4 months ago. It still hurts - a lot. I can't sleep for the pain. I can't touch the opposite shoulder because it hurts, and I can't reach behind my back with that arm. I thought it would get better but it isn't...

2. I now have strange feelings in both arms. Tingling, pins and needles and numbness starting in the fingers and going up to my wrists. Both arms. This started about a month ago. Mainly at night when I wake up with the shoulder pain.

Is this serious? Any ideas?

Ia, poolside in Bali right now, and Jakarta next week, so I can't do anything until I get back in a few weeks, unless someone tells me I am going to lose an arm or something...

Go to the doctors please. You may have trapped a nerve/done something to a disc. As one who has just gone through 4 months of agonising pain in one arm that has taken heavy meds and physiotherapy to make it settle, I sympathise. If you can't sleep then you need to do something.

Sounds like you damaged your neck when you hurt your arm and now it's playing up. You need to see a doctor and ask for scans and a referral if they agree it's neck damage - fixing it early can prevent future problems. I would ask to see a spinal specialist if it were me. i can recommend one in Brisbane - but not Jakarta.... best of luck with it.

Ignore the doctor seeing brigade. Carry on how you're going now and eventually your arms will drop off which should ease the discomfort. In the meantime copious amounts of alcohol and medical grade heroin will mask any tingling sensations in your hands.

Medical grade heroin and alcohol are my remedies for most things.

He may want to avoid the opiates in Jakarta unless he fancies spending some time in a 200 man dorm (built for 25) and then getting a hole in the head through a black hood....

Still, he'd have no more arm pain.

That's true. While he waits for the acute lead poisoning he can keep his mind occupied with all the sodomy he's going to have to try to avoid. Someone will have to remind him not to drop the soap in the shower.

Oh, and whilst you are having these symptoms, Bali or not... Do not be getting a massage anywhere other than a foot massage or from the "optional extras" list that you have to pay cash to the masseuese for.... Just in case ok?

It happened in Fiji on route to Tuvalu, where the only doctors have bones through their noses and wave sticks to cast spells. I was there 11 weeks. After putting up with it for 11 weeks it isn't too bad.

I got back from there about 4 weeks ago, and was flat out with other stuff. I thought it would fix itself with time. Now Im in Indo.

In any case - I go and see a GP. He prods and pokes, then says "you need a specialist". The wait for that is probably longer than I have had the thing. The specialist will poke and prod, then do scans and anal probes, hand me some deep heat and say rub that on it.

I don't like to trouble Doctors with my aches and pains - if I had a bone sticking out of my arm I might pop in.

You're not troubling doctors, you're supporting their lifestyle.

Always think of them as glorified car mechanics. prod poke, listen to the chest then "it might be your carburettor... on the other hand your exhaust looks pretty dodgy"...

I will be at the Ambhara and Kemang isn't far away, but it seems so trivial. My arm aches and it interrupts my sleep.

Shut the **** up and go see a Doctor... How are Doctors meant to employ nurses to stop them from killing their patients unless you go see them??? Stop being selfish and just pay up will yer?
