Default Mechanical tradies in Perth

Hello everyone, I will be over in Perth MAR/APR time and will be looking for work in the Kwinana area. I'm a welder and wondering how much welders,pipefitters etc can earn per week (realisticly) ,also whats the forecast for work in the near future, if anybody knows rates etc for petro chem sites and fabshops in the area please let me know ,cheers. ps also anyone know and decent firms to work for who are busy atm .

Just do a search on seek.com mate, loadsa work over that way. Plenty FIFO work in the mines i believe

Hi there.
Its interesting times here at the mo. Not 100% sure on your specific trade (welders/boilermakers are classified differently here to pipefitters) but I would estimate in Perth/Kwinana area you'd be looking at around $70K p.a. possibly more.
We keep hearing about the boom starting up again in WA (mining and LNG) but I'm not sure the reality is there. I'm currently tendering for a new steel storage tank and ALL the fab shops are crying out for work at the mo.

Cheers Jazzys & EvannTel, I'm a welder to trade over here in the uk ,seems to be loads of work on seek website , i will start sending out a few cv's asap. EvannTel hope you get that s/tank job mate, good luck! I'm going to try and get local work then maybe fifo if i can't get anything in a fabshop or site. Are you working on the east coast Jazzy, are you a welder also , cheers

Yeah i'm in brisbane mate. Plenty work over here for welders / boilermakers.

I'm a toolmaker by trade but been working as a fitter for a few years now.
Lots of welders working alongside me in my last job though. For a mob called RCR tomlinson, head office is in perth too. Heavy engineering stuff.

Cheers Jazzys, i will send a cv to RCR aswell mate , got a state sponsored 176 so i will be staying in WA for 2 years, one other thing Jazzys , i noticed on a job advert on seek for a welder were asking for construction blue card which i know about but also a ABN? Tried googling it but i dont think they need a bank in Holland lol, thanks again .TJ

ABN = australian business number, you get one when you're self employed
