Default McKay and surrounding area

ok so bloke has got itchy feet again. We are planning a reccie in August with campervan and all. Anyone got any advice on areas that are suitable? Prefer quite areas - not bothered about schools - or city living - or even beach life. Main areas of importance or buying a house and becoming mortgage free within 5-10 years. having comfortable jobs - not bothered in what area of work we both do. Just ready for our next challenge!

personally I dont like Mackay...very expensive to buy houses because of all the mining in the area.

We are in Yeppoon we love it but others may not

Hi Biggy,

Yeah that Mackay

Hubby and I have decided to look further afield. He fancies QLD and I fancy NSW

Not decided yet but our main issues are more for our money so small mortgage.

Best explains it like -we lived in small village in UK and had decent sized house - and would never have dreamed of living in London in a large house (pricewise and location) but here we are lving in one of the most expensive cities in Oz - nice and pleasant and in no way a comparison of London - but seeing what we could get for our $$$ - maybe even one of us could find a small job and the other part time. Better standard of living.

Obviously need to be near some form of employment (within reasonable travelling distance) but not bothered about being stuck in the middle of nowhere. Daughter not coming with us - so just me and hubby.

Your thoughts?

You would love Yeppoon......30 mins drive from Rockhampton so plenty of job oportunities. House prices have slowed down here(dont know how they compare to Canberra though) for now and it is an excellent time to buy as people are desperate to sell. If you want to give me a rough idea of your budget for a house(and what style size u r after) I can let you know what is available, I have a mate in Real Estate and know when all the good buys are coming up. www.capricorncoast.com.au
