Default Massage Therapist???

I have a US massage therapist license.In Australia do i need any certification for working as a massage therapist???I was looking online i could not find any website that clearly define working as a massage therapist.

Its a matter of insurance here and also being able to offer your clients a private medical rebate as many policies make allowances for remedial massage. Natural therapies are highly regulated and this is a good thing for the industry as a whole. Most UK therapists for example would lack the qualifications to practice.

In Australia a Remedial Massage Therapist is a Diploma level qualification (18 months+ full time study) and a normal massage therapist a Certificate IV (6 months+). On top of that you must have a certain amount of clinical hours to join a professional association.

You should seek membership of the AAMT and/or ANTA - www.aamt.com.au

Give them an email as to recognition of your qualifications. They offer discounted group insurance as well as a fund provider number.
