My girlfriend was a newly qualified nurse under the conservatives and the NHS was going to rack and ruin (no doubt like now you may say), however she was on 12 grand a year after scrimping and scraping on a pittance for three years. Within a year of labour being in her salary had risen to a respectable amount and thankfully now she is doing well. As a man who believes in the 'old' Labour and am warey of Blair, he hasn't done half bad. |

More than I had. Mine were I managed to get an apprenticeship as a plumber at a ship yard that was closed 2 weeks before I was supposed to start. Then stuck in unemployment blackspot factory work, YTS college or somehow convince my parents I had a cunning plan and they'd let me sit around the house all day doing nothing. So I went YTS route and what a waste of 18 months. Kids today have college and they get paid to do it EMA allowance isn't bad for those with parents who are on lowish income. Modern apprenticeships pay a decent rate and are far far better than the tory YTS. If kids have a any kind of self motivation they can get on, when I was 16 there was bugger all. |
Re: mass migration
The majority of youngsters leaving school are useless in my opinion. They dont know what they have and most want to sit on their arse in front of a computer getting fat. I am in the building trade and have had a few school leavers work with me over the years. I have had 2 that were keen and wanted to learn. The current lad I have walks around in one gear all day and has his hands in his pockets. He is at college 2 days a week and does not really want to work and is a total waste of time.
He said to me this week he would not be working at next years v festival as it was really hard having to park cars for 12 hour shifts at this years festival - he got £200.00 cash for the weekend and saw the festival ??? |
Re: mass migration
The welfare state was brought in (in the 50's) to make up for gaps in working people and those unable to work.
unfortunately, the labour govt who got it up and running forgot one thing - and that was potential benefactors should be those who pay into it first; The pension system was introduced to ensure those on lower wages had some sort of income when the stopped working (eg in the 50's your life expectancy was something like 67/68...) and was originally designed to be claimed by those who paid into the national insurance system... so those who started their working life in the 50s could claim on retirement, having paid into the system during their working life and allowing a pool of money to be built up to pay for the evolving benefits system. but the labour govt of the time allowed everyone to claim it from the day it was introduced ... so that pool of money was never established and the welfare system has never caught up. THATS why there isnt any money in the social security bank account. it was never there in the first place ... as was initially intended. sue young part LLB (78% welfare law) :D :D :D |

Then you have to make special rule for certain groups and other groups can then say they're being discriminated against. Also Aus works this rule with its immigrants but those bold enough to fight it in court can have the ruling over turned, human rights legislation is everywhere and can be used and abused by those who are wise enough
read the first sentence of my post...for those "unable" to work- the govts plans not mine. and it was the govt that brought it in ... not me. just making a point. |

and it was the govt that brought it in ... not me. just making a point. Who is defined as unable to work? Someone who gets signed off as suffering from illness or disability. Is easy to con the system and as I said Australia's stance on immigrants not being able to claim anything for 2 years is based on thin legal ground... |
