I can annoyed when I hear people harping on about "legalising". what so lots of people want to do it so lets legalise it, sure lots of people like robbing cars and mugging old ladies but you don't here people harping on about that.

And yes it does effect other people like people who drive under the influence or commit crimes under the influence too.

Not that I smoke anymore, but did indulge in my youth. But surely that argument could be more applied to alcohol.

I agree with the driving under the influence which is why we now have random roadside drugs testing which is a good thing, but I would think that the chances of anyone been arrested for crime whilst being stoned on weed is pretty much small since it would take most the energy to be able to get to the fridge to get munchies and go to sleep in front of the tv, nevermind go out and commit crime.

Alas I do not think the same could be said about socially acceptable drinking which ends in violence which is guaranteed in a couple of local venues that I know of.

Agree with a lot of stuff in here, and some stuff is just laughable.

Basically put, think of it like this;
when you have a beer, do you immediately start wearing grubby clothes, grow a beard down to your navel, live in the dirt and eat from trash cans, whilst pondering the benefits of METHS over special brew???

I guess the answer would be no,

The occasional toke, will do you no more harm than the occasional bevvy or two. In fact for some with chronic arthritis or MS it actually helps the symptoms and relieves pain.

George Michael is quite right in his thinking in having a chuff every once in a while.

Also there are no addictive properties to green variety, unlike fags and booze.

Legalise it. All drugs should be legal. All of it. If you can think of it, legalise it. Why? Because people want to get high. People want to drink and get drunk, people want to smoke and get high. If someone wants to smoke crack, let them smoke crack. I'm not saying it's the best decision, but it's not my decision. I don't drink or smoke. In fact, I don't take counter medication when I get a headache. If I'm ill, I'll wait it out. No cough mixture, nothing. Pretty much all my friends drink alcohol and get drunk. Just because I don't doesn't mean they can't. If you drink and get drunk then and have the opinion that somebody shouldn't smoke and get high, you're a hypocrite. Sure the substance and effect are different but the behaviour is the same. Alcohol will kill you. Cigarettes will kill you. Heroine will kill you. Crystal Meth will kill you. They're all different substances and they have different effects, but ultimately, they have the same results.

People can argue, "BUT BURTY! ALCOHOL IS NOT AS BAD AS CRYSTAL METH LOL!" It may not be as strong and as nasty, but alcohol is bad for you. Difficulty walking, blurred vision, slurred speech, slowed reaction times, impaired memory: Clearly, alcohol affects the brain. Some of these impairments are detectable after only one or two drinks and quickly resolve when drinking stops. On the other hand, a person who drinks heavily over a long period of time may have brain deficits that persist well after he or she achieves sobriety.People who have been drinking large amounts of alcohol for long periods of time run the risk of developing serious and persistent changes in the brain. Damage may be a result of the direct effects of alcohol on the brain or may result indirectly, from a poor general health status or from severe liver disease.

The (global) government won't legalise other drugs because it's hard to keep track of them. If marijuana was legalised a lot of money would be passing hands and the govt wouldn't have a dip in it. We all know drinking and smoking are bad for you but it's legal because there's money to be made in it. BIG money. Asprin is perfectly legal but if you take twelve of them it'll be your last headache. The war on drugs? How can you have a war on drugs? The war on terrorism, too. "I declare a war on something that doesn't physically exist". Why not declare a war on myspace? It makes absolutely as much sense to me. You can argue that if somebody is a heroine addict it will have negative consequences on not only them, but they're family too. Well last I heard alcoholism wasn't any positive influence on families either. If people want to live their life a certain way, let them. If they break the law whilst they do it, it doesn't matter, it still applies. Drugs are nasty, I support not using them. But I support peoples right to live and make their own decisions freely, even more so. I might not like what somebody else says, but if I don't allow them to say it, I've robbed them of one of their basic rights. Free speech.

Legalise or not no tax payer should have to pay because of the effects of it
