Default Make a Wish Foundation

Who else got a phone call from Make a Wish Foundation last night. I just put the phone down as I'm sick of all these cold callers - I'm getting them a few times a day now.

Chaser is on tonight again.

You know I like the Chasers, and being in Dubai now, I'm completely removed from all this whole make a wish debacle - but what I would like to say is this.......I got in touch with a friend of over 30 years the other day and her facebook page has a "I hate Chasers" album in her photos - the photos depict the playground and memorial donated by the make a wish foundation before her only child died of leukemia. Don't blame the Make a Wish Foundation for something that was beyond their control - they're a fantastic organisation.

My part time evening job is telephone soliciting for Make A Wish. It was incredibly rude of you to put the phone down on me that way. The very least you could have done was say "No, thank you" first.

I did say no thank you and then I put the phone down. I don't like being rude to people as I know that it another person on the other side of the line just doing their job. But I do object to being phoned on my home phone number which they shouldn't have the number of in the first place.

If you're getting these calls a few times a day how do you know it was Dorothy you said "No, thank you" to? She could have been one of the people you just hung up on. I'm not sensing much in the way of an apology here Luma.

We have specific charities (quite a few) that we subscribe to. We started off with one or two and it just sort of grew. We've decided to shut the gates now and when contacted we give the response that we have certain charities that we already support and just can't afford to take on any more. Never had a problem yet, and operators are always understanding and polite.

It's a difficult one and i can't be arsed with sales calls, but i always let them speak first - the whole speech thing where they try to be charming, then at the end ask for your bank details so i just tell them i'd love to but my husband doesn't allow me to have any access to the money and he pulls all the purse strings to the bank accounts.

Always works.

I am sure there is a DO NOT CALL register that you can sign up for and this stops all those annoying sales/charity calls

My brother (the same one that posted a fresh dog sh!t through his ex-girlfriend's letterbox) has memorised a pyramid selling scheme sales pitch which he recites in response to anyone cold calling him. He used to record them and put them on Youtube. I'll see if I can get a link
