Re: Make-up... good or bad?

I haven't worn heavy make-up since my Goth days :D

These days it's just a small amount of eye make-up, very rarely wear lipstick although I've always got 2 different colours in my handbag for some reason & I can't remember the last time I wore foundation.

If I'm going to the gym then I don't bother but otherwise my small amount of make-up is done before the school run.

Personally, I can't stand the feeling of covering my face with gunk every day and maybe just wear a bit of lipstick and save the works for special occasions.

So, what's the consensus on make-up? Should we slap it all on - or is it ok to go bare-faced?

opssss thats me, but I dont put gunk on my face thats because I know what to put on it as I'm a make up artist.

I never wear any form of make up. Mind you, I'm only 32 at the moment... my stance on make up might change in another 10 or 15 years!

I did wear make up for my wedding, and weddings is about the only thing where I will even consider putting any on.

I only wear it if I am going out, so rarely:rolleyes: I wear a bit of translucent powder (to take the shine off) and a touch of mascara for work. I used to wear make-up every day, but since having the kids, I find it dries my skin out badly if I wear it every day, and I have dry skin anyway.

Also, I like to think that makeup should enhance your best features. If people see you with makeup on everyday, what difference is there when you go out? People who see me every day with no makeup on and then see me with, will often say how nice and different I look. I can scrub up quite well I think:o

Use sheer cover ... and revlon colourstay mineral foundation ....not at the same time... i hasten to add.... The revlon is meant to last for 16 hours, it stays on really well and doesnt dry your skin or look powdery...

How VERY understanding of you... Of us elderly ladies...:sneaky:

But be warned... YEARS of practice helps you to get that natural, unmade up look... And if you dont put the effort in now, you may never achieve it...

Total sunblock every day and the only stuff I wear is mascara and eyeliner if I go out or sometimes to go to work in the summer when the sun has bleached my eyelashes and brows.

That's it for me, I do invest in hair products and a good hairdresser so that us my 'make up'

Go barefaced for the gym or beach and if I am at home all day but if I am going out I always do my hair, wear tinted foundation with 30spf built in, concealer, bronzer, blusher, eyeliner, mascara and a bit of gloss but all very light. If I am going out then I also put on eye makeup.

Actually ladies, some advice if you dont mind. I start my new job in a couple of weeks in the city and whilst I cannot stand the thought of foundation, I am planning to wear a bit of eyeliner/mascara as my lashes are white blonde and I look a bit deformed as though I dont have any.

Can anyone recommend a good make of mascara and eyeliner and I am wondering if a tinted moisturiser with a SPF protection in it would be the way to go to give my skin a bit of even tone, I have dark circles/bags under my eyes from being on steroids, so whilst that will disappear, in the event it hasnt when I start my new job, is there something you can put under the eyes to make them look a bit better?

I hate lipstick but think the latest lip balms can give a nice look as well.:o

I use MAC eyeliner and Stila mascara both give good coverage. I also use NARS bronzer and blusher but lightly so just to give a bit of colour and rose to my cheeks. I can't remember the brand of tinted moisturiser I wear and will have to check when the OH wakes up.

All takes me about 5 minutes to get ready.
