Make-up... good or bad?

Make-up... good or bad?
I was quite shocked when a woman recently declared that she NEVER leaves the house unless she is fully made-up.
Personally, I can't stand the feeling of covering my face with gunk every day and maybe just wear a bit of lipstick and save the works for special occasions.
So, what's the consensus on make-up? Should we slap it all on - or is it ok to go bare-faced?

Put it on for work.. i have that idiot proof mineral powder foundation... Stick the brush in the pot... Swirl it over my face... Sorted...
Tend to use a bit of that thin lizzy as an eye shadow and blusher/bronzer, great having the one product that does both... Could use it on my lips too if I added it to some gloss ...Bit of the lipstay stuff so I dont have to bother about it again... And some eyeliner...black...
Takes 4 minutes max to do the lot...
Wear it if I'm going out...
But I do come home and scrub it off as soon as I can....
i have a friend who gets up before her husband EVERY morning and does her... Reckons he has never seen her without it on... She has tattooed lip liner and tattoed eyeliner too... Dies her eyelashes as well..... Freak

I never wear more than a bit of bronzer or blush and mascara. Never bothered with 'gunk', seems pointless to me. You either have good skin and so keep it as clean as possible other than moisturiser or you have crap skin in which case you should keep it clean other than moisturiser. However if 'you' only feel able to go out in public in full slap then who am I to say it's wrong.
Crap skin with foundation trowelled on looks appalling to me, it seems to draw attention to the spots/scars/etc. I used to work with a girl of 22 who got up really early to trowel the stuff on. She admitted she had never been seen by anyone without full slap since she was 14. If she's sleeping with a boyfriend, she would wait until he was asleep before cleaning her face but get up well before he did to put it on again so he'd wake up and see her 'perfect'. Even on the beach she have the full works. I think she needed (needs) help because that is not normal.

I only wear it if I am going out, so rarely I wear a bit of translucent powder (to take the shine off) and a touch of mascara for work. I used to wear make-up every day, but since having the kids, I find it dries my skin out badly if I wear it every day, and I have dry skin anyway.
Also, I like to think that makeup should enhance your best features. If people see you with makeup on everyday, what difference is there when you go out? People who see me every day with no makeup on and then see me with, will often say how nice and different I look. I can scrub up quite well I think
