Reccie trip accommodation in ACL Forum, St Leonards or an apartment in Neutral Bay, does any one have and location knowledge on either of these apartments or areas which one might be more suited for a family of four (kids 4&7) any local knowledge would be a god send right now ( atually one other place would be Ridge Street North Sydney if any one knows what this area is like as this is possibly our third option.
Many thanks in advance

I think the Forum is the apartment complex attached to St Leonards train station, so very convenient for public transport and also shops and restaurants, especially in Crows Nest which is just a few minutes' walk.
Neutral Bay is a nice area but hard to say more without knowing more. No trains.
I'm five minutes' walk down the hill from North Sydney. Don't know the apartments but North Sydney has a train station, only a couple of stops from the city, and also shops and restaurants too. Easy to walk to the harbour, Luna Park (great for the kids) and even over the harbour bridge into the city and all its attractions.
Are you limited to these choices by your employer or looking at these areas to live? A lot of people stay in serviced apartments in the city centre on looksees and validation trips. If that's an option, you'll get plenty of recommendations from people on here or by searching this site.
We stayed in what's now called the Mantra in Chatswood on our looksee (yes the one that was raided the other night!), but really only because it was convenient for my husband's office and we already knew the area, plus were looking for a rental on the North Shore.

Thanks Seasider – we are only going over to validate our visa right now and to see if I can meet a few agents regarding work, we are planning on spending a week in Sydney and a week in Perth, but we are struggling to find a self catering apartment for the dates we are going.
What did you mean when you said the Mantra in Chatswood( yes the one that was raided the other night) what happened? As I said I have two daughters that are pretty young so when you say raided it does make me think ….am I doing the right thing.

It was held up by robbers with stun guns
If you're not tied to those areas, do look at the city centre as it will be much more convenient for attractions, etc., to amuse your daughters.
Try Oaks properties (Hyde Park or Goldsborough), Meriton, Fraser Suites - let me have a quick search and post you some links.

edit again: I should say, the Mantra was absolutely fine, really!
