No worries you did not affend me I backpacked their in 1993 and they seemed friendly enough to me and I went to Kakadu national park and beyond.
So I do have an insite but not with kids - mine we brought up in the Middle East so think they have probably seen everything by now plus look at the people here in the UK on the streets!
Thanks for your thoughts anyway

Sorry I didn't mean to offend, and I didn't mean it in a racist way. I think there was a discussion on the aboriginal population of Darwin somewhere, which is the only reason I bought it up.
There are a lot of groups of aboriginals hanging around in groups on the streets, which young kids might find a bit intimidating walking around. That's all I meant.
I have friends who are aboriginals, have socialised with them on occassions and have worked with them. I have nothing against them, so there is no need to jump down my throat.
As an English person moving to Darwin, they may look a bit off putting loitering in parks/shop/street corners.
Have you been to Darwin Budawang?
Good luck to everyone moving here!

I also think that the various Aboriginal tribes have, in many ways, very rich living cultures which many white peopel don't recognise or appreciate. We have a narrow understanding of what culture is - old buildings, paintaings, museums etc.
Have a good time up there.

Have to say just finding out info but think we have decided it is too much of a backwater for us but there was a possible job opportunity. Possible job opportunity in Melbourne and have been there to when travelling but still back in 1993 and without any kids. Where would be the nicest place to live within computing distance of the main town centre?
Thanks again

Pretty windy for the next few days... I'm flying down to Adelaide in a couple of hours.... hopefully it won't be too bumpy taking off!
