We'll only know for sure if you turn out to be wrong.

Nothing would make me happier than to be wrong. But I'm not.

Oh I just thought of a good one in work today.

You know the brain has an 8 second memory buffer? (well if you didn't you know now :p)

So imagine someone is waffling away in a meeting as I doodle on my notepad and then they say to me "you're not listening". And I say "yes I am". And then in front of 8 people they say triumphantly, "well repeat what I just said".

:sneaky:The 8 second memory bank is still there, so I repeat exactly what they just said. And they think oh, he was listening after all,

truth is, once the 8 second memory buffer is gone, whatever the hell they had said was gone. I was never listening really, but my subconcious insists on filling the memory buffer with outside noise.

And it is noise, cos they were talking bollox. Thats why it only stays in my brain for 8 seconds.

But in a more general scenario, don't ever try the "your not listening", "yes I am", "well repeat what i just said" thing. Anyone can do it, and not listen to a word you say.

Given the prerequisites to ensure a happy ending (;)) just in case you are wrong, then this particular subject should perhaps more accurately be classified as one of "life's dilemmas":confused::rolleyes:

Afraid I aim for a cheerleader with slightly higher standards than one who cheers for Celtic and paulry.
