A-league final

Would love to meet them in round 2 and beat them in the same flukey way the Italians beat them. Heheheheh.
I do, however cheer on the Aussies against other teams - but if they played the 3 Lions.... OH MY GOD.....

I don't want to deny the locals any faint hopes they may have of beating En-ger-land...
It doesn't harm anyone so long as when we meet them in the World Cup, we give them a thrashing...

Like Dan, I would lend my support to Socceroos whenever they play...bar when they play us, of course!

But can you see any otheir lot beating Rio/Terry and score??
Will eat my hat if they do that...
(But don't have any hats

Not many times in the last ten/fifteen years that England have lost in a final tournament to a poor team. Romania, Republic of Ireland, Brazil and 2 penalty shoot-out losses. All significantly better than the current Australia team.
No way would England lose to this team.
I'm looking forward to tonight's game. I really hope Stupor-Stanley plays and confirms he is the worst defender I have ever seen. (I did giggle when the West Australian stated he had trials with several championships sides, including Leeds. Leeds aren't even a Championship side and he obviously wasn't good enough to get a contract with them - surprise surprise).

I watched the final and it was a shame that it was spoilt so early on by a ref reacting to seeing the blood from the accidental collision. Allsop's sending off seemed almost as farcical, and just confirmed my view of him as being a complete carthorse.
This is the first season that I have had Foxtel and have seen 10ish A league matches. Whilst it clearly isn't the same as watching the EPL, or even the Championship, in the space of 4 years and with the salary cap, how could it be ?? I meant to get along to see the Victory this season and didn't, but I fully intend to next season, especially having seen Eddie's clip of the fans by the station. A beer/ football/curry combination looks as though it will be on the cards
Bear in mind that even at the current level, the A League is still vastly more entertaining to watch than an AFL match, with more atmosphere in the grounds as well. Given that Association Football is the most popular sport by far participation wise in Australia, I think that continued success for the A League will generate more local talent which can only be good for the game here.

So who will you support if an England v Socceroo (puke) game in the world cup, surely England?

I'm actually not 100 pct sure either way. I think I would like to see Aus do well against England in the early stages, if that could happen. Whereas if it was a knock out stage, then England.
Ultimately it's difficult to go against your upbringing.
Tell you what I wouldnt be watching an Aus V England game in public, whilst I wrestled with tangled emotions.
I reckon I'd be really quiet watching one of those encounters. Which is unusual for me.
Everytime England have been in the world cup recently, I've gone to one of the local pubs, Like the Keepers arms in North Melbourne, or the Elephant and Wheelbarrow and got behind England 100 pct. In fact re the Argentina game way back when, my car got stolen out the front of my house that night, whilst I was away watching the game at the keepers, and I didnt give two stuffs, because England had won.
Can't say I've ever been tested like this before. I certainly was on the fence back in 2003.
It's been a slow process all of this hand on heart stuff.
