Look out yookay, two of your more repellent citizens are returning to the fold. They are the most negative, blinkered, unfriendly wankers you'll meet and you're welcome to 'em.

Mind that they are actually out of the driveway before you hang up the bunting and sound the fanfare! haha!

I'm with you on that one Hutch.
One thing I've noticed in the time we've been here - whenever we collect a visitor from England from the airport they always seem really uptight and stressed about something - usually something quite minor like the flight being 10 mins late.
I reckon I used to be like that when I lived in the UK and I really hope I'm not still.....

I must be one of the few on here that really enjoys having visitors be it 2 days or 2 months.
They all bring Yorkshire Tea with them, which is a must if you stay at my place, and I have not had one who has got off the plane miserable (oh maybe 1 but she was my sister and not had a ciggie for 30 hours - she soon perked up once we were outside!!!)
I don't have rose tinted glasses and know/realise that we all get on each others nerves at times but I take a deep breath and think this could be the last time I ever see them. (You never know what is really going to happen from one day to the next when it comes to health)
I don't expect much of my visitors, just that they buy one meal out, keep their room and bathroom clean and that is pretty much it. I find that if you expect them to do much more and they don't then this causes unnecessary friction. People, when they are holiday, don't always think and I must say that I have probably been guilty of that in the past - so deep breath and live and let live!
When it comes to money, if things are tight, then let your guests know before they arrive that you would appreciate them helping out with the food and drink - if they know this before they come then it saves the potential embarrassment of having to ask once they arrive.
Oh and I don't have casual aquaintances stay - family and close friends only.
