It's actually called Duct tape, but there are variations called duck tape.

It stems from the saying:

If it moves and it shouldn't, use duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, then use WD-40.

They were the same in British Steel - the painted white lines on the floor were so thick they were trip hazards :lol:

Ah in the army it was the white stones outside the guard room :D

Used to be a pin when you needed to get in to a control panel, or fuseboard, and find it painted shut solid :lol:

Painted screws - took a bit of digging to see if the were flat head or Phillips, never mind trying to unscrew them. Always knew when someone was coming for a visit though :D

We just used screwdrivers to unstick the windows that had been painted shut
