I worked the summer hols in a geriatric hospital helping out in the Occupational Therapy Department! I loved it - I used to get paid for making plaited trays and doing aerobics and sitting reading to people:D

As you can imagine it was upsetting sometimes though:(

I loved it!!!!!

They were dead rude too which I found shocking as I thought all old people were innocent:eek:

I also used to help out at the disabled swimming club, loads of people thought that I was doing it to be nice and was giving up my Friday night. Truth is I got as much out of it as the kids did, it is where I met my OH too. He has a disabled Bro who I used to swim with....

my eldest is autistic and hates swimming he says its dirty;)

he hates the wet in the changing rooms as he says its all muddy . I dont volunteer much normally as family and work took up most of my time but its great to feel useful at the moment:thumbsup:

I don't anymore either same reasons as you. I certainly got a lot out of doing it though as I am sure that you are finding.

The reward is far greater than the sacrifice......
