Kualar Lumpar
Am thinking of doing a few days stop over in KL?.Can anyone recommend how long to go for and what there is to do?

If you've never been to a big Asian city before then KL is a good first option but overall it doesn't have the sights of somewhere like Bangkok or even Singapore.
I'd say 3 days is all you'd need for KL but it depends what you are after. There's plenty of good food and good shopping but in all honesty neither are as good as other cities in SEA.
When will you be going? Remember the monsoon season can make temperatures a little uncomfortable.

If I'm honest I wouldn't spend 5 nights in KL but you could fill the days well enough. There's a couple of things to do around KL like the Batu Caves or the Jungle Park at Sungei Buloh.
There is a Chinatown and an Indian quarter in KL.
There's the Petronas Towers where you can go on the sky bridge (I think its only open in the mornings and the tickets are limited in number and first come basis).
There's the shopping malls in the Golden Triangle (where all the sky scrapers are).
There is enough to do there I'd say and even if there isn't at least its a break inthe flight and a dent in the jet lag

All of the hotels in the centre are good quality, the only differences being the prices.
Suggest you check out the Trip Advisor website - comprehensive details in there and a good user review section for each hotel.
Whenever you are going be prepared for serious humidity and pace yourself - don't try to do too much at once. A day trip into the Cameron or Genting Highlands is also worthwhile, and cooler/less humid, but avoid the casino at Genting unless you are flush!

A day coach trip to Malacca on the coast is also good value. This is an historic port town which has Portuguese influences and is good for general sightseeing.
