Re: king size beds

you should be able to get one just about anywhere- but check the sizes first as we had a kingsize bed in Uk but when we got here the Oz kingsize sheets etc that we bought were too big and it seems that Uk king is an Oz queen .
In answer to your question Mick, Harvey Norman, Fantastic furniture, Freedom, Furniture Spot, Merrys, Furniture Bazaar or Bedshed to name but a few

I know there is a slight dif in sizes but surely doube is 4ft 6ins, queen 5ft and king 6ft, in width anyway, in both countries. It worked this way for me.

General rule i've found Aussie Queen = UK king, Aussie Double = UK Queen, or as near as makes no difference :)

We've just bought a Aussie queen sized mattress for our UK king sized bed frame (which is STILL on route here from the UK) & our UK king sized sheet fits perfect. We also bought a new duvet, sorry I meant doona, in Aussie queen sized & our UK king sized cover (only have one the rest are in the flippin container) fits fine.

I often buy UK king size duvet covers in Asda and bring them back over for my Aussie Queen size duvet, works perfectly :)

Do they have ¾ beds in Australia?

Edit: Found the answer here. The link also shows all of the Australian/International king, queen and double bed sizes.

I LOVE my Aussie King as it means that I don't have to touch my Husband unless I really have to

On a more serious note *cough* It's quite common for kids to have double beds here and kids covers can be bought in double sizes too.

Funny that. People think king sized bed = sexy and desirable. But what is so sexy about being half an acre (okay, slight exaggeration :o) away from your partner?

Yeah our kids have UK doubles which are coming over. Our son is 1.95 metres and couldn't fit on a UK single anymore. :D

We're shipping our UK King (Oz Queen size), but it will hopefully go into a spare room at some point, then we can buy a real King size again. Probably take years though.

King size is the best. (as long as there is a sturdy chandelier hanging above);)

We're in a Uk super king size and I most definately wouldn't go back to a smaller bed! We can meet in the middle when we want to ;) but then roll back and sleep star fish style without touching each other - perfect :).
