Default Kid freindly pubs in the UK

I'm involved in a Discussion on the Palace BBS, re kids in pubs etc, over that incident in leicester where the toddler was banned from the pub for having a england top on.

On my last visit to the uk, I found it very difficult to find a pub where kids were really welcomed, and I found none with the types of playground areas that we have commonly in lots of pubs around Aussie.

My question is are there pubs with big kids playgrounds in the UK ?

nope they are not as welcome as in the usa or aussie....we tend to leave the pubs for adults to escape

Yea, the Brewers Fayre ones are alright - in fact we had our Cotswolds/Glos meet in one last month. They have soft play areas which seem to be fairly well managed with properly qualified staff and sign in/out for kids. Poxy food and crappy beer for the grown-ups though.

Yeah, and I think its probably fair to say that the play area is more of a token gesture than a genuinely enjoyed experience for the children. I get the impression that children are recognised more as individual human beings in Aus (and much of Europe for that matter!) than they are here.

It's probably the old english "children should be seen and not heard" mentality

I AGREE

Although, my MIL owns a pub so it's OK for mine to go in there Plus I do make sure they sit good and behave themselves, or we go home.

funnyly enough he got the hint and f**ked off with his little treasure

Well yes. There's only a few public houses I'd want to take my children into too. I tend to be drawn there for the good food rather than the alcohol and smoky atmosphere though.

I hate that. My kids know that they are not allowed to behave like that when we are out. They sit still and play or they go home, simple as.

Don't get me wrong I don't make them sit in the corner quietly, but there is no running about and if they look like they are annoying anyone then I will tell them to behave. Two chances, if they still carry on then we go home and they go to bed.

i just think pubs are wholly inappropriate places for chidlers

smoking, swearing, alcohol

( thats just the kids )

anyway this has gone from promoting which pubs you should take your little dears to the complete opposite

so i`ll shut up
