La Vida Loca.

Im pleased your wages are better and your hours shorter.

We thought it would be the same for my husband, but unfortunately not, the hours are the same (but here they tend to send him away for weeks here and there which they didnt in England) and the wages are significantly lower for him.

But we would still rather be here.

Lo.

True . . . but it may involve him having to swallow more than his pride.

maybe the I should be WE...
My wife acheives a higher income, and has lot more opportunity here.

wont say we swimming in the stuff as other aspects of our outgoings drain the cashflow, but on the whole salaries here are higher.

Not too sure about the rent boy comment, bit abusive I'd say, but I expect that from certain people.

I dont get the obsession with you can BBQ near the beach, that activity becomes very boring after a while, it might be terribly exciting when you first arrive but after a few years

Its hardly the same as being able to take off to a different city for a weekend or something, and yes you might need a umbrella in the UK, but hardly all weather in OZ is great for being outside in is it

While in York we went down to london for the weekend, 16 pound return train, 30 pound travel lodge for son and gf, 2 pound baked spuds for lunch, 6 pound curry for dinner, walk around london seeing loads of stuff free, couldnt help think what that would have cost if we went to Sydney for the weekend.

Very true.

I'm enjoying my time in Perth. But you simply cannot get away from the fact that in the UK you have so much more available to you in terms of 'getting away'.

Europe and it's different cultures are within a few hours flight away. The closest we have in Perth is Bali and SE Asia, which cost too much if you want an unplanned weekend away.

When in London we used to travel to Europe every couple of months to stay with friends, or just do a last minute hotel trip. Impossible to do that now.

Exactly. If we fly bris to syd for a weekend, even with the cheapest $69 fare its nearly $600 for a family return plus 2 nights in a family room makes it $1000 just fares and accom.

I really miss having so much within 2 hours or so

Bro last weekend London Marathon, next week amsterdam to see friends, june greek islands, what am I supposed to brag about 'ere another bbq sausage on another bloody beach, i mean sand and water has limited variety

Oh here we go, I dont want to go London.... its a dump full of people rushing around....

I dont want to spend a fortune on travelling around....

Also I dont bake myself in the 40 deg WA sunshine....dont think anyone does....

I have been BBQing ont he beach for years, dont do every week, but its a great option to socialise, instead of public houses...

Again, its all about the money isnt it.... best things in life are free...

Absolute bollocks...

KL, you can get return flights for $300 bux, even cheaper....

Singapore and Bali is the same...

Internal travel is a joke as we all know, but go on happy hour with qantas , you get deals if you want to....just stop trying or start doing....

Forum - place where poeple have a variety of opinions.

My opinion is your probably newly arrived and still find the sausage exciting, some of us are over it, pardon me, but I have BBQ'd twice a week at least for 8 years, thats about 800 freaking BBQ's, OMBG that would send anyone mad

BTW I found New York cheaper than Sydney too, that should annoy someone
