Talking Just got engaged!

So, my boyfriend proposed last night and we are now engaged!

As he knew I wanted us to choose a ring together, he made me one out of beads with a gem for the diamond, so he could put a ring on my finger when he first asked me!

Now I am completely flummoxed as to looking at engagement rings. Which stores are good here, which are bad...

I don't want to spend a fortune, just want a ring that we are both happy with, and is not yellow gold (yak )

Thanks!!

lerato

Congratulations!

I personally like the ads I've seen for Georg Jensen

http://www.georgjensen.com/global/Ab...e-locator.aspx

but I don't know their quality or how their prices compare or how much you want to spend. They're about the only jeweller's I know other than Prouds. I generally don't do jewellery - my engagement ring is a dolphin ring from Argus and my wedding ring is a sterling silver knot from a small jeweller's in Hobart.

Coming from someone who has had their engagement ring remodelled 3 times - take your time!!!!

Started off with a twist which although gorgeous on its own looked silly with the wedding band. I now have a solitaire with 6 smaller diamonds (3 each side) and at last I am happy with it. It's something that you will have for the rest of your life so choose carefully.

Congratulations!

H bought me a lovely ring in Chinatown.
Ricco Ricco were lovely- some of the others can be a bit daunting. The road is just next to George St- no idea what it is called.

Whatever price they say offer 50pct and work up from there!

Congratulations!

All that I know is that my Aussie wedding couples tend to favour HUGE rocks! Good luck with finding a ring, have you looked in some of the Opal shops up in The Rocks () as they have some unusual designs up there. My friend got a really nice ring and it doubled up as a wedding ring.

Have fun choosing!

Thanks all!

Still all 'eeeeek' over it! We work together (in different departments) so we have a joint group of friends that all joined as grads last yeaer. Cue yesterday being very hectic with telling everyone and people arriving at my desk etc!!

We are lucky that both sides of the family get on well with us! I can't imagine how stressful it would be otherwise.

Hoping to go ring shopping on Sunday when he is back from Melbourne - he even suggested taking next Friday off work so we can go shopping for 3-days straight! I was like, where did you come from, that is so adorable!!

lerato

ps apologies for gushing and the like

He doesn't sound real to me, are you sure you've not made him up?

i know!!

I couldn't believe he made me a ring (that fit!) out of beads and a gem to give to me in the meantime. Seriously, am I dreaming or what!

I seem to have a lack of concentration for working today...

Not yet no! Going to ask around first and see if my friends have any, or on freecycle. As they cost a fortune and we won't be ready to seriously look at specific stuff til nearer the time. Though saying that, I have no clue!

In fact, I haven't even BEEN to a wedding before! OMG!

Luckily his cousin is getting married in Ade in December, so that will be my first and then the next one will be my own
