Default Jet lag cures?

Anyone got any suggestions of ways to ease jet lag symptoms? For the first time I seem to be hit for a six on arriving back in Oz. Chills, nausea, insomnia etc....

A glass of eno works wonders for jet lag.

Thanks. Is eno similar to alka seltzer?

I'm trying that. Yesterday I managed to stay awake and then tried to go to bed about 10pm and didn't sleep at all. Now feel firmly in the twilight zone, sick and quite frankly, like crying.

It sounds like you have cultureshockitis

(It does sound like more than jetlag though)

1. Stay up at least until dark on your first day there
2. Go to bed and sleep like a log

Always works for me. Just tend to wake up a bit early for the first few days.

IME it's those who go to bed at silly times like 10am after arriving at 7am who end up with problems.

Some get jet lag, some get terrible jet lag, and some don't get any.

If you're one of the latter you are lucky.

Have a child.

I've not experienced jet lag since I had one - too busy experiencing his!

Thats the same way I do it. I usually crash into oblivion at 10.30pm the day I arrive - I go so fast that I even fell off a stool in a pub once, stone cold sober, just fast asleep!. Suffered a teensy bit this time though cos of the flight being delayed, didn't land till 11am instead of 6am, so I didn't get my major crash till the second night.
I feel it more when I get back to Aus then when I get to the UK, but I think thats the aforementioned "cultureshockitis", I'd rather be in the UK so I fit into the time zone more easily.

I try and avoid it in the first place by trying my hardest to stay away as long as I can into the flight. I can usually make Singapore if leaving from Sydney but can never do it when flying out of London - usually pass out over India.

Melatonin - you can buy it in health food shops and some pharmacies
