James Bulger's murderer back in jail

Re: James Bulger's murderer back in jail
The human brain is a very delicate organ (I know I've been studying it for 20 years), and it can break the same way a leg can break. When it breaks you try to mend it, the same way you try to mend a broken leg. It's a very difficult thing to do, but it is not impossible.
Of course, when the brain breaks things can happen that those of us with unbroken brains cannot understand. Kids murder toddlers, fathers throw daughters off bridges, ordinary men become monsters in Vietnam or Berlin. And it can happen to any one of us: you, your children, your brother. That's was causes me concern, fear even. To stop these things happening, if it is even possible, we need to understand the causes.

The Sun's not the most reliable of sources so hopefully this isn't true...

If it is true, it kind of blows the whole rehabilitation theory out of the water.

Personally I think he must have done something pretty serious for them to put him back in prison.
A serious amount of money must have been spent on relocating him,new identities etc. The authorites would have done everything they could to keep him out of prison and more imprtantly public attention.
I only hope to god he's not hurt someone else.

Isn't it ironic that the papers are printing all these 'allegations' and then saying that they can't verify them because of the injunction. So does that mean anyone could phone them and make it up?

Jack Straw has said that the allegations are serious - click
Only The Sun so far reporting it is a sexual offence; perhaps they have a contact somewhere.
No doubt it will all come out soon.

Update from ninemsn: Seems he's been abusing drugs and alcohol for years (no surprises there given his history). It's child porn offences apparently.

There must have been a grave risk of reoffending.
Makes a mockery of all the help and counselling he was given!!!

If a dog savages someone you don't bother trying to rehabilitate it you just have it destroyed.

What a completely ridiculous thing to say, why not just advocate the death penalty..for people of any age. If you take this to a logical conclusion you would offer no rehabilitation and have a far higher recidivism rate, which by its very nature means more expense to the tax payer. There is also a very good reason that children, yes even these people are children, are not held accountable in the same way that adults are, that is because the human brain is not fully developed at a young age, and could therefore these children cannot be tried as an adult. You cannot make laws and sentences dependent on public anger, the law is only as fair as it is because it is objective and does not get angry for whatever reason, only mitigating factors based on fact should be taken into account when sentencing. I would suggest that the reason this horrible crime created so much anger was for the simple reason that it was very visible, adults commit far more horrible criminal acts on children nearly every other day and you never hear about it because its not captured on CCTV. These children were tried before the law, under the law and received their sentences which they served and are still serving and always will be.

I'm proud of being a pragmatic, conservative Liberal. I'm a 19th century Whig! Didn't someone acuse me of that not so long ago...
In other words, I maintain the right to stop acting like the Liberal I am and **** you off (not you personally) back to where you came from at any time.....
