I've changed my mind

I want to go right now.

My workplace is being funny with me, my landlord is being a total and complete tool, House Insurance are threatening to charge me a cancellation fee for moving - even though I said that they could insure me in Perth if they wanted:rofl:

Everything is a fight/struggle, some people are behaving like knobcheeses and I have had enough.

I just want to be at the airport hotel, drinking champagne and bonking my brains out over something smutty.

I am even not looking forward to my party and the emotions that go with it.:(

Has anyone else felt like the last few weeks are total hell and have had some people change towards them?

I hope it isnt me.

You do not realise just how much control people/companies/authorities like to have over you until you end an agreement.

If I had the money, I would resign now and move into a hotel - I swear I would.

OH yes i do!

dont let them get to you.

they cant do anything once you have gone. if they want to be an arse now then bloody let them. Phathetic little lives with no adventure or get up and go in them.

you go out there and LIVE your live. Your mum would be saying the same thing now. (sorry to bring up a sore point). You of all people should know life is too short to be worrying and letting people like that get to you.

this is NOT the PP i know and have come to love (strangly enough)

We go first week in March.

I have never felt so stressed ever in my life.

Why do people have to be difficult? How the hell can my landlord demand 2 months notice AND keep our deposit when our agreement expired 9 1/2 years ago and it states only 1 months notice.

My head is pounding, the estate agents and the landlord are coming tomorrow, the landlord left a shitty message on my husbands mobile.

Ive been signed off for a week and work are being shitty as well.

Why dont people leave me alone? I dont bother anyone, just do my thing and you would think I had committed murder the way people are carrying on.:(

give him his one months notice as that is all you have and as for the deposit i would write it off i'm sorry to say.

work - you have grief off them for a while now. Be strong and give them a one fingered salute as you leave on your last day - which will come quicker than you think.

Hi PP here is the relevant legislation from
http://www.questbrook.co.uk/ast.htm

Generally speaking, when an Assured Shorthold Tenancy is created, it is for a fixed term e.g. 6 months, 12 months. If neither party does anything to terminate it before the last day of the fixed term then the tenancy is automatically converted into a Periodic Assured Shorthold Tenancy. This is still an Assured Shorthold Tenancy but it is now one that continues by operation of the law on a periodic basis i.e. on a week to week basis or month to month basis dependent upon the period in the fixed term tenancy by reference to which rent was paid.

Just tell the landlord this!

He has to give you 2 months notice, not the other way round. I know it's not what you want to deal with, but don't give in to him.

Take care PP and stay strong - it's not long now.

Mr PP is going to deal with it all tomorrow.

We have highlighted the contract and I shall have the tenants rights page open on my computer when the estate agent comes round, plus I am contacting Ealing Council - housing department tomorrow.

Re: I've changed my mind

Hope Mr PP gives the landlord what-for, you absolutely shouldn't have to put up with this sort of sh*t from him. As someone else said, just withhold your last month's rent as deposit, and tell him that when he returns your deposit you will pay the last month of rent! What a loser....

As for the insurance, I remember being charged an extra month as a cancellation fee too. What a rip off. Unfortunately it was in my small print so nothing to be done - aside from possibly claiming that it is an unreasonable charge and therefore you will not pay. Don't know if that works out side of banks.... I mean do they honestly expect you to stay with them forever? It would be more honest to charge a joining fee in the first place.

Like everyone has said though, screw them all - let them do their worst for the next eight weeks, because after that you will never have to care about them again! :D

Re: I've changed my mind

Try my well thought out strategy for survival:

Get hammered :p

Cancel the direct debit for the rent & tell the landlord to go swivel when he comes knocking on the door :D

Get your GP to sign you off with a "bad back" for the rest of Feb - they won;t know any different & it would take longer than that to get an appointment with a specialist to prove otherwise anyway (you knew the NHS would come through for ya one day )

Plan for not only a smutty movie, but the full rubber stockings & leather peephole bra routine for the hotel :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Mr. PP will have a last month to remember :D

(You'll get there honey - hold tight, not long now )

Re: I've changed my mind

We have a plan guys.

It is illegal for us to withold rent for a deposit and I dont know how quickly our landlord could take us to court.

We know full well he cant charge us 2 months rent to leave, Im calling the council later about that.

We know we will lose the deposit, he has NEVER given one back yet - according to his handyman.

So as our deposit is going to be witheld, that saves me the trouble of cleaning the flat I am assuming.

OUr flat hasnt been properly scrubbed in ages - boxes everywhere, stuff everywhere - you get the gist.

It is dusty as I have done very basic cleaning.

Anyway, as hes keeping the deposit, I can save my energy and not do bugger all except sew kippers in the curtains.

All the s*** that you're experiencing is just part of the plan to make sure you're ready to see the back of ole blighty. When you posted your thread about "when was the most emotional time for you" I had to really rack my brains as, like you, by the time it got to the end I was sick and tired of it all, friends being funny, petty bureacracy, wrong information etc.
It's like having a baby - you go through all that pregnancy stuff just so you'll be willing to do anything just to get the damn baby out at the end:D

trust me i am a landlord and he cant demand 2 months notice it is stat 1 months notice within tenantcy agreement and if you are that far out of your agreement and no one has renewd it it goes to what is called a mutual rolling agrement and is coverd by tenency laws and regs (cant rember th date that ame in but check google )
so tell him to go eat his hat and demand your deposit bck if the property is in same condition you got it or like to like (doesnt matter if its been decorated and agreed with land lord )its illegal to hold deposit

other thing you can do is just dont pay him any rent fromnow till you go that way you getting your deposit back claim squatters rites he cant enter your roperty with out permision and it will take him 2 months to evict you legally

hope this calms you a bit

Thank you so much for that:o

The flat has got wear and tear.

He has never maintained it, we have replaced stuff due to damp and mould and he has always sent his handyman in to paint over the damp till it comes back, so wallpaper has peeled off - but that is not our fault.

The oven has been broken since we moved in and the gas fitter has reported it but landlord said its fine.

I will admit to the carpets being fluffed up by my previous cat but I dont know what counts as wear and tear.

We do have terrible damp though but no evidence in writing that its been reported.

I cant wait till its over.

Ive heard its illegal for us to hold rent as a deposit, god Im so confused.:o
