Just about the only thing you can still do in Australia that isn't regulated, requires no red tape, no licences and best of all no boss, well except me. BUT it doe make me an exporter and the high Dollar really does hurt.

I've missed you all too.

Awww...

Any particularly boring suburb of Sydney? I find them to be very similar these days...

Welcome back, Ark! And yes, having built a house and laid out a garden in Country Australia I empathise entirely with your posts concerning trying to source such exotic items as right-angle irrigation pipes etc!

Better that than in the shadow of cowboys from idiotshire.

If egos were as a threat to the environment as carbon, the tax rate here would be $1 million per tonne

Just so long as you didn't try and buy sand in bunnings or sand blasting grit in the same shop as you bought the sand blasting gun. Or heaven forbid a new bearing in a bearing shop. Don't even get me started on water pipes from the water pipe shop. Oh then there was the paint missing from the paint shop. How about the fact the local bunnings only did stock take twice a year so only then knew what to restock on.

Oh those were the days!

I f***ing hate Bunnings with a passion. They have the worst stock control system I have ever seen - the number of wasted trips I have had to their worthless warehouse is innumerable now.

And I feel your pain on the other items too. I need a chimney collar so that I can mount a chimney pot to the top of my chimney, and NOBODY here has ever heard of one. People think I'm mad asking for this dark piece of ancient technology. Managed to source one in the US, but they won't send it here.

On the mid north coast I'd lost count of the number of times I'd go into 'town' for something and come back empty handed, it was at least a bi weekly event.
Stock control went something like....big gaping hole on the shelf where white ceiling paint goes....hole sits there for months until I need some white ceiling paint....I enter the PAINT shop and ask for some white ceiling paint....storekeeper who is person 1 of 8 working in said shop goes to empty hole on shelf and notices for the first time there is no white ceiling paint...mutters they will have to order it for me, come back in 2 weeks time...two weeks later re visit shop, still no paint ask where it is from same person as last time....Oh have we not got any? we will have to order it for you..repeat 2 more times until I run out of patience....On last visit insist he order it while I am there.....Oh I can't says he, the person that orders the paint is on holiday!

Never did get my paint.
