Interesting (and off topic -I shall beat myself later) that it is now improper to express a hatred of people by race etc (and quite right too really) but the French seem to be fair game still. Discuss. No don't! for god's sake!

Hate really is a strong word...can we sub it with "strongly dislike", so as to not offend any frenchmen who might be reading?

Anyone remember when the Americans bombed Tripoli, trying to get Gaddafi?

Gaddafi managed to leave the area about 30min before the bombers arrived. During the press conference after the event, a US general was asked if that was a lucky coincidence for Gaddafi, or if he had somehow been informed the bombers were coming.... his response was priceless.

"Well we had to inform all of our allies about the raid, even the French !!"

Look . . . erm . . . one of my own top hates is when public figures, generally politicians, stick a "Look . . . erm . . . " in front of every response that comes out of their mouths. It's interchangeable with "Listern . . .erm . . . " and it seems to be perculiarly Australian.

Explanation:

The French can take care of themselves - and will take care of themselves.

It's actually a bit of a compliment - you tend to rubbish people who you actually like or admire...I admire the fact they don't care and the way they just make up their own rules..

I hated the French too - until I realised I actually quite like them - after all. Only in a holidaying sense.

Yes it is. And you know you've been here too long when you find yourself doing it too. :p Just an emphatic 'Look' - no erm in my case..

So I really want to be Phil 'kin Collins living in France watching Titanic every night?

I beg to differ, I think you rubbish people because they are odious twots, that is what hatred is for. Love needs an opposite, it don't work otherwise.

If you can't truely despise something or someone without having to be psycho-'kin-analysed and have the roots of this hatred traced back to your 'kin mother by some know-nothing cardigan wearing twit with their own sordid issues kept well underwraps ... or something ... then where is the fun in life?

Latent issues? Me? :D
