I can't quite get my head around that. Seems a bit like smart phone generation gone too far.

Personally, the whole concept seems a bit weird.

People do it all the time with weddings and funerals these days, it's quite accepted practice.

If it was the only way I could "attend" and the immediate family weren't upset by it and it could be done discretely - then I really don't see the problem.

We had a thread in the Immigration forum recently where the groom was in Aus and the bride was over in Asia somewhere. They got married via proxy on a video link.

Crikey, I have never heard of such a thing.............I would have been pretty shocked if something like that had come out of the blue.
But, if everyone agrees I can kind of see why it might be acceptable. Food for thought........hmm.

Wonder if they used an antivirus for protection.

a trojan in this case would've been a bad thing. Although 'warning, another computer is using this URL address' has made me chuckle :)

Oh no, this is so not fine it's not funny. If anyone can't be arsed to get there in person then too bad.

I'm recording the mother-in-laws funeral, a bit of a pick me up for when I'm a bit depressed

What about for people who are sick in hospital, or are they in the "can't be arsed to get there" category as well?

Don't see the issue with it really, obviously it would always be best to be there but if you can't then it's the next best option.

I had my wedding steamed live via web cam none of the guests that attened were aware until I told them afterwards, I hoped they weren't bitching about anyone as they would have been heard on the link up :hysterical: luckily they'd all behaved themselves! :D

Or perhaps can't afford the thousands of dollars it would cost to get there?
