Mallorca, but away from the riff-raff of Magaluf.

Really would depend on how much play cash I had.
With the cash i have now I am happy where I am.

OMG that place is beautiful! Spent two weeks there and you really feel like you have taken a break from the rat race and entered somewhere so peaceful and tranquil.
We had to get the little boat over to Managio(sp?) - I loved doing that. Probably one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to.
I would like to live in Windhoek in Namibia.

I'm very surprised at the amount of people naming their chosen spot as the country from where they originate. It sort of begs the question as to why they are here at all.

It was so nice to watch at lunch time, the Italians shutting up shop for a few hours to eat with their families, not to be rushed or hurried - this was followed by a siesta and they would open up again much later and only when they wanted to.
The smell of coffee, food - garlic/pasta, the sound of the locals all trying to out-talk one another round the table, Mr PP and I loved that
Very family orientated, slow pace of life and lovely to observe.

Cant answer for all of the 'they' you refer to but for me:
People move around for adventure and to keep life fresh - typically a LOT while they are young. As we get older and more mature our taste for adventure mellows and the perspective gained by seeing much of the world allows us to see a side to our former home that we may previously have taken for granted.
Why do I live in Australia? because thats where I happened to be when I settled down. It wasnt necessarily a logical comparison of places and determining the best place to live - just that when I reached the age where I no longer NEEDED to keep moving, this is where I was... and so this is where I am.
Would I move back to the UK if I had a chance? Yes for sure.
Will I get a chance? Unlikely... Particularly as I'm not persuing it very hard!
Will I be bitter about it? No probably not - I'm doing alright were I am.
Do I regret ever leaving? Absolutely not. Life is an adventure and one I've done alright by.

So true but can be a pain when you realise at 1pm that you've finished the milk and nothing will be open again until 4pm.
