Default I would like to thank....................

The teachers at my daughters school

Well as some of you may know i have the most reluctant teen to oz in the world.

I have always praised her school and the teachers, and have always said she has went from strength to strength at secondary school, she has never had a problem. She has always been encouraged and praised and has responded by being a student in credit levely for all 8 subjects.

BUT

According to the school this week she is completely wasting her time coz she loves sport and would love a career connected to it, and the biggest waste of time (according to some), was she choose PE over a second science.. There will be no job and no future for her unlesss she changes direction, well all i can say is i hope they keep this up, coz she said tonight maybe she would be as well in oz where she can continue to do sport and perhaps have a career in it, so a great big THANKYOU.

Result Margaret! Is this a good time to start downloading pictures of loads of great sports facilities and pinning them to the fridge? You know no pressure but....

Excellent news Margaret (well, not excellent that the teachers say she's wasting her time but you know what I mean). So good that she finally has good reason to look forward to Oz. Hope things continue to improve

Given that you're moving that's great news mate. This is something about UK schools which really gets my heckles raised. Something similar happened to me at school too. With me it was music. I was getting scores in the high 90%'s, writing all my own stuff, playing lots of instruments ad generally loving it when along came the head who told Mum and Dad that I couldn't continue with it as it clashed on the timetable with other "core" subjects. We were all gutted and Mum and Dad were fizzing about it but nothing was ever done and before we all knew it, teeneage life took over and that passion was lost. Now, I can't even read a note of music, it's so so sad. Schools need to start recognising "real" skills and helping kids find a career there rather than trying to produce 1000s of clones with the same qualifications.

Back to your daughter's predicament - is it no wonder the UK never get many medals at the Olympics????????
