Doesn't it simply come down to her making the cut by being faster than the rest. Doesn't say much for those that she beat, especially if she was saying she wasn't up to it.

After watching the chinese swimmers I think its time to just to say sod it and have two distinctly separate games. The clean olympics and the anything goes olympics. Anyone found with clean blood and genetics is kicked out of the X olympics… Personally I'd be more interested in watching what sort of freaks science can truly create when the veil is lifted off performance enhancing science. Can you imagine… 4 second 100m sprints. Dead lifting a tonne. Hurdles that are 2m high. 1 minute miles. Gymnastics would be an absolute riot to watch.

I personally reckon whats happening is far more sophisticated than drug taking. If the Chinese beat cancer via their Genetic Engineering techniques, can those people minus the cancer gene not compete also ?
I'd say all thats happening is they are pushing the cutting edge sciences and techniques harder than anyone else. Looks like its paying rewards as well.
They really are taking over. We're witnessing a quantam change in world dynamics, and Chinese Athletic achievement is one of the Litmus tests.

LOL in a way I probably have... It's in my own financial interests to reap the rewards of my costly reno, by having a strong China.
The world has changed more in the last 10 years, than it did in the previous 25. I think that change is actually accelerating still.

China will stay strong enough for now, but its domestic issues are posing some major challenges to the CPC. In this rise of China I see an equivalence with the rise of Japan in the 50s to 70s. The problem we have with China is the lack of transparency, so it's hard to know what the real state of books is. But it would be well advised not to challenge the West because it will come undone in my view.

So true. Who knows what is going to happen to China, few people truly do, but the basic fact is that the centre of the world is shifting to Asia - and the biggest loser because of this is Europe.

Quite. So many problems. They can't build their domestic consumer base quick enough to replace the drop in business as EU goes into the crapper. One of the worst ageing populations in the world. Hundreds of millions in real poverty while $$$ spent on the massive expansion of offensive military capability. Currency manipulation that is inflating their own economy and buggering everyone else's. The list goes on. I am skeptical about the "rise of China" but keep an open mind as events unfold. Taiwan remains a real flash point as well.
