Apparently in a moment of weakness I agreed to get one of these for the kids for Christmas. As my technical knowledge ended with the ZX81/Spectrum I'm somewhat challenged as to what additional 'kit' I need to buy.
I'd greatly appreciate what else I should get - wii fit, sports, controllers, bundles, memory cards etc ! The kids are 6 and 8. I'm a little older.

deffo go for SuperMarioKart - one of the most engaging games out there and can be played on your own, or with up to 4 of you, or online against mates in other countries or random people.
Zelda was good - but you may want to consider the age of your kids.
Wii Fit is good for adults, and only if you can be arsed to do regular workouts. Not really got the variety to keep a kid interested for long...

For kids I'd recommend the Wii Sports that usually comes with it. A couple extra controllers is great too. I'd say you probably only need 2 nunchucks as well.
Also Mario Kart. My 4.5 year old loves it and so do we! My daughter also loves Mario Party because of all the mini games, so might work well with your kids.
If you're not sure what games to get I'd start with Mario Kart and then rent a few from your local video rental store. At least that way you get a feel for the game before you go and buy it.
I would definitely say that Zelda would be a bit too advanced for your kids. Although cool for adults.

Also
Dont forget tiger woods 09 for the man of the house
You will soon find you are fighting with the kids who's turn it is to play. I suggest buying two

My fave is Guitar Hero III.
A Wii-specific version of Harvest Moon is due out soon (if not already released in Aus) and my kids' favourites are Mario Kart and Pikmin (so far only on GameCube but will play on the Wii). My kids loved Super Smash Mario Bros when it was released. Were I you, I'd buy used games or rent them as the game prices add up very quickly!
Oh, and start looking for one now ..... the shortages will grow and the prices will rise close to Christmas.

The worst bit is the wii fit age!!! Mine was 52!! I am 36!!

It is now 41 and slowly falling....
Certainly recommend - Although I had to queue for ours they only send 10 at a time to the Game stores.

So, for those of you that Wii Fit.... do you really like it? Do you use it much? I've been thinking about getting one for a while, but I haven't heard to many opinions on it.
My 4.5 year old wants it because she likes the Hula Hoop part on the commercials
