Default I can't decide!

Iv'e been in oz for about 6 months & really like it here, I have my first lot of annual leave soon which I wasn't able to book the dates myself so husband is working & no real plans.
What I can't decide is should I make a trip back to uk to see friends/family/pets who i miss or would this just make it worse? what was it like after your trips back? any experience/advise appreciated

personally I would spend it sight seeing, doing all the things you haven't yet had the chance to. Going back to the UK would only make things worse I would have thought

I wouldn't go for a visit after six months. Use the time and save some money on exploring home even if it's just day trips out.

When we first come to Australia we love it, but of course we are on holiday. Then we migrate. Then we fall into the daily grind.

Take some time out to explore your new home imo and remember all the very good reasons that you live here. Afterall, we're not exactly short of places to visit given our land mass

I agree with the others have a look around at what you have here (come down and visit the national capital everyone should know what their capital city looks like)

yeah because if you're really missing that home feeling you get from the UK Canberra will really take you back.....to somewhere like Milton Keynes or Stevenage.

Bollocks, of course it wont! It is a beautiful city and has the national buildings which are definitely worth a visit. Come in October at Floriade time and it is glorious. Just because it is a planned city and doesnt have a beach within cooee doesnt make it somehow inferior.

It's the ugliest city in Aus. The only interesting bits are not even original, they are just stolen off Washington

Will have to agree with the majority here and say 'never stop exploring' good luck and post some pics up when you have done some sight seeing on the scooter

Rubbish! Did you have a bad experience here or something? Nothing even vaguely Washingtonian here and it is the national capital which is where you would expect capitalish type buildings.

I go there all the time for business and it is just dull quite frankly. Sure the main parliament building is impressive, but you can tell that they are trying to mimick Washington in that sense. Other than that it is just plain dull and so say most people I know from there. But then I suppose when you consider that the main industry there is civil service it's not surprising really.
I would actually rather live in Milton Keynes and Stevange than Canberra

Think i'll give canberra a miss for now, don't worry not just because of the comparison to milton keynes, just think perth to canberra on a scooter is alittle ambitious for first trip out alone although the more of these chocolate covered coffee beans i eat the better the idea sounds....
