According to a website I was reading, 'most Aussies have a scary Huntsman story', so that means after a year my wife is really getting into the culture
As it is obviously a reasonable Milestone, and lets be honest, people in the UK reading this while they continue their visa application process, are all interested in teh scary spider stories and pictures - I know I was (I used to look at the pictures with one squinted eye open).
So here goes....
Diane took a trip to daycare yesterday morning to drop off the kids. All very normal, all very routine. First you get the buggy out of the boot. Second, you ...." ************* what the ***** is that ******** thing ??!!!!!! "
Let's just say, I am glad I was already on the way to work

I don't think so, she was proud of how brave she was.
She commented out loud, mentioning the word Spider, only to then have our nearly-two-year-old saying 'pider, pider, pider' all happily in his car seat as she worked out how to remove the beastwithout inflicting any further panic on herself

Always a scare when something's in the car. Keep the sunroof closed and the windows up!

Here's ours from last week. We've been here for about a year and a half and this was the first huntsmen we've seen in the house. We were overdue to have the house spray so it was a nice reminder to get it done.
I of course found the spider on the wall while I was sitting in the dark watching tv before bed. It was so high up on the wall I couldn't reach it so grabbed my trusty hockey stick to try and coach it along!

Spider thread... hence I'll post this little gem of a story I heard the other day.
One of the local kids, woke up one morning with what appeared to be dozens of mossie bites on his legs. Parents applied stingo etc, and let him get on with it. Thing is they changed in appearance, started to blister up and become pus filled. Hence a trip to a doctor, a full 36 hours after the first bites were noticed.
Most likely culprit according to the Doctor. Redbacks !
I've not heard a story like that before, but these were born and bred Aussies telling it, and they found it unusual as well, but all believed it.
