Default how to start work in australia

We have passed the skills test for an electrician in austrlia but have been told my husband may have to do a further test over in Australia in order to work depending on the employer called the 'australian recognised trades certificate' do you know if this is the case

as things goso far YES im afraid so BUT thier is a debate over exactly what

hi there .you do need to be tested,and it can be long winded and time consuming.my friends husband who,s in the trade said he would have to do training one day a week,he made enquires in perth {where he is moving to } and found it slightly easier.but he was not happy about the way there do things over here. good luck .hope this is helpful lori

hi there,i did know some of this,i just wanted to let the others know.Its madness i keep hearing others stories like this.luckily its not my partner thats in this trade,hes a paintsprayer but my friends husband in nsw that this has happened to .lori

Yes, I think people should be made aware of it aswell.

I was in touch with the TRA yesterday as it happens, they were really helpful and are sending us an application form and instructions on what we need to do. So if you e-mail them and ask for an application for a ARTC, they will post it to the UK for you.

They do say however, that you MAY be required to attend an interview, so no decision will be made on you application until you get to Australia.
