How many tv channels? Channel 7

How many tv channels? Channel 7
Hello,
Emergency just found out on here that Heroes and Prison Break will be on channel 7.
Ive looked on my tv and I only have four channels and 7 isnt one of them! I have foxtel and it says its not on it.
How do I get channel 7? Ive also heard people mention a channel 10!
Im new to WA, how many channels can I get? The ones Ive got are rubbish. Do I need a set top box to get channel 7. Ive got a new one somebody gave me who was leaving OZ, but have not looked at it.
Any help appreciated.

Yes, Ive got WIN and GWN! So is GWN channel 7 then?
So will GWN have same programmes on?
This is confusing! Why have ours got stupid names instead of channel 9 and 7!

As far as I can see from my TV guide mag then yes WIN is 9 and GWN is 7 and they appear to have similar if not the same programming.

That's called localisation where the channel has regional news and current affairs - much like the UK.

Its a strange set up. You can have different companies owning GWN vs 7 WA vs 7 in other states. But like you say, they are almost identical programming, apart from the news.

Oh, right I get it now. So its like Tyne Tees was north east and Granada for North west in the UK.
Oh, well they can call it what they like if I can still get Heroes and Prison Break on it!

I think GWN will show major regional events instead of scheduled progs too.

Having lived 8 yrs in country WA I can say GWN is part of 7 network, all shows are the same, though GWN tends to show movies and tv shows exactly a week after channel 7, on some occasions they do show them at the same time as 7.
Prison break is normally shown on GWN though. Country WA you will miss out on some shows shown on channel 10, as WIN covers some of them but not all.
